ALFA LAVAL AND BRPROCESS

Bringing a partnership that comes from cradle brprocess is the exclusive representative of Alfa Laval in Brazil for the area of vegetable oils and fats. The company still maintains a technological cooperation agreement with Alfa Laval headquarters in Europe.

In addition to equipment such as heat exchangers, centrifuges, special pumps and complete plants for oil refining and biodiesel pretreatment, brprocess markets specific Alfa Laval technologies to reduce losses and increase value-added, such as:

ENZYMATIC DEGUMMING

Together, brproces and Alfa Laval offer one of the most important technological conversions of recent years in the oil industry, enzymatic degumming and physical refining for seed oils. The traditional chemical process involves the steps of:

  • Degumming
  • Neutralization
  • Bleaching
  • Deodorization

In the degumming and neutralization steps, low value-added by-products, gums and lees are generated which represent substantial losses to the process.

The enzymatic degumming process replaces these two first steps, the action of the enzymes on the phospholipids of the crude oil reduces the emulsifying potential that promotes the drag of oil to the gums, besides converting some of these phospholipids into fatty acids or diglycerides. Fatty acids separated only in deodorization have much higher added value than the neutralization lees.

Due to the reduction of losses, the increase in the final yield of refined oil for food purposes or for the production of biodiesel is up to 2% and overall gains between R$10.00 and R$50.00 per ton of processed oil.

More than 15 installations in South America operate with this technology and brprocess is at the forefront of the development and continuous optimization of this process.
